Pawnee Buttes February 2010. From a cold February pre-dawn hike. Got to the edge of the plain with the buttes and realized that I had taken too long to reach them before sunrise proper. Distances in the Plains are deceiving. At least when I went there on this trip I didn’t have to worry about rattlesnakes.
